Functional Position Splints Pre-formed functional position splints position the wrist and hand in approximately 30 of wrist extension, neutral deviation, 35 of MCP flexion, and 20 of PIP and DIP flexion. The thumb is positioned in opposition and palmar abduction. Splints can be modified easily for a custom fit. Sizing Guidelines To determine size, measure the width of the 2nd to 5th MCP. X-Small - up to 2 1/2" (6.4cm) Small - 2 1/2"-3 1/2" (6.4-8.9cm) Medium - 3 1/2"-4 1/2" (8.9-11.4cm) Large - over 4 1/2" (11.4cm)
